چکیده

Gas hydrates are considered a potential energy source for the future. Rock physics modeling provides insights into elastic response of sediments containing gas hydrates, which is essential identifying using well-log data and seismic attributes. This paper establishes rock model (RPM) by employing effective medium theories to quantify properties hydrates. Specifically, proposed RPM introduces critical hydrate saturation various schemes. Such key factor considers impact on sediment stiffnesses during dynamic process accumulating as pore fillings part solid components. Theoretical illustrates that characteristics exhibit distinct variation trends determined saturation. Numerical tests based confirm technique can be employed rationally predict properties. The compressional wave velocity also developed estimate saturation, gives reliable fit results core measurement data. methods could improve our understanding behaviors providing practical approach estimating their concentrations.

Here in, an application of a new seismic inversion algorithm in one of Iran’s oilfields is described. Stochastic (geostatistical) seismic inversion, as a complementary method to deterministic inversion, is perceived as contribution combination of geostatistics and seismic inversion algorithm. This method integrates information from different data sources with different scales, as prior informat...

Observed Gas Hydrate Morphologies in Marine Sediments

Small-scale morphology of gas hydrate is important for understanding the formation of gas hydrate deposits, for estimating the concentrations of gas hydrate from geophysical data, and for predicting their response to climate change or commercial production. The recent use of borehole pressure coring tools has allowed marine gas-hydrate-bearing sediments to be recovered with centimeter to sub-mi...

Workflows for Sweet Spots Identification in Shale Plays Using Seismic Inversion and Well Logs

Worldwide interest in shale plays has rapidly increased in recently years, thanks to the combination of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Shale formations act as both the source and the reservoir for the natural gas and usually exhibit anisotropic properties at larger scale. Geological and petropysical studies found that the right combination of thickness, TOC (total organic carbon)...

Elastic and shear moduli of coal measure rocks derived from basic well logs using fractal statistics and radial basis functions

Gamma ray, density, sonic and core logs obtained from two boreholes drilled over a longwall panel in Southwestern (SW) Pennsylvania were analyzed for formation boundaries, log-derived porosities and densities and for rock elastic properties from sonic transit times. Gamma ray (GR) and density logs (DL) were analyzed using univariate statistical techniques and fractal statistics for similarity a...
